Mixed Metals

Combining a gold and silver bracelet? Yes you can! Same idea goes for your home. Mixing metals allows a space to feel less “planned”. Rather than making sure every single finish is exactly the same, try to have a mix of finishes in order to create a space that feels more organic and collected over time. There are many ways to sneak a mix of metals into your home. One of our favorites happens to be through lighting! The combination of brass and bronze in the lighting fixtures above makes for an interesting statement piece in your home. Keeping a similar style but mixing up the finish can create the cohesiveness that makes the mix of metals work.

Mixing Patterns
Add some fun and excitement by mixing patterns! Neutrals, pastels, even bold colors can play a part in this 2017 trend. An easy way to incorporate this trend is with Pillows. Layering pillows with different textures and patterns helps create visual interest and can add fun pops of color to a space. Not to mention that this is a great way to swap out colors for a season or holiday. Don't be afraid to mix bold patterns with a softer print, or bold colors with softer ones. Another great way to mix patterns is with area rugs. Mix them, layer them, play off the colors and patterns of objects in the room, or add a new unexpected element!

Fan of Faux
Just as durable, practically identical, and easy on the budget? Faux finishes are where it is at! One of our favorite places to incorporate faux finishes is the kitchen. We all love that crisp, sleek, dreamy marble look in a kitchen, not so much after you have spilt your wine and it begins to soak into marble’s porous surface. Solution? Try engineered quartz! Some companies produce patterns that are so similar it is difficult to tell the difference from the real deal.

Sometimes less is more. White and bisque ceramics are all the rage. From pots and vases to decorative items, they create a clean and sleek addition to any space. While working with a monochromatic color scheme, texture becomes very important. Making sure to have a mix of textures makes the combination of accessories more dynamic.
Subway Tiles
Yes, they are here to stay. Subway tiles are a classic addition to any bathroom or kitchen. They are seamlessly incorporated into most styles. Grout color and finish selection can be an easy way to put your own spin on this classic tile.
